1. SAINT ÉTIENNE DU MONT | MIDNIGHT IN PARIS BY WOODY ALLEN

Located near the Pantheon, Saint Étienne du Mont is a church in Paris, completed in 1624. The very long time of construction explained the mixing of gothic, classical and renaissance styles you can find in its heterogeneous architecture.

The North-West steps, in the photo, are perhaps one of its most famous features, as they were the scenery of a key part of Woody Allen’s film Midnight in Paris. Do you remember Gil Pender’s (Owen Wilson) time travel events?  These were the steps were he waited for the car that took him to the crazy bohemian times of the 1920's Paris.

2. MUSÉE RODIN | MIDNIGHT IN PARIS BY WOODY ALLEN

Also in the movie Midnight in Paris, the Rodin Museum is scenery to some takes while the characters walk around in its stunning gardens. The museum, dedicated to the life and works of French sculptor Auguste Rodin, houses many of his works in the beautiful 18th-century mansion and on its breathtaking grounds.

The museum is on Paris’ Left Bank, in the 7th arrondissement, just to the right of the legendary Invalides where Napoleon's tomb can be found. Actually, from the garden of the museum, you can get a great view of the iconic Invalides dome.

3. PONT ALEXANDER III |  MIDNIGHT IN PARIS BY WOODY ALLEN

Another scene of the film takes place at Pont Alexander III. Built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, the Pont Alexandre III is one of the most spectacular bridges in Paris, both for its architecture and decoration and its location, connecting the Invalides (on the left bank) and the Grand Palais and Petit Palais (on the right bank). At the extremities, you can see four 17 meters high pylons crowned with gilt bronze sculptures of winged horses. The views one can enjoy from the bridge are overwhelming, making it not only a great place to stroll but also a privilege viewpoint of the city.

4. BRIDGE BIR-HAKEIM | INCEPTION BY CHRISTOPHER NOLAN

Several scenes of the mind-blowing film Inception take place in Paris. The best known would probably be the endless mirror view of the Bir-Hakeim bridge. That scene features early on in the movie when Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is teaching Ariadne (Ellen Page) to create dreams.

The bridge, made of steel, was constructed between 1903 and 1905 and is structurally stunning with its double-decker steel framework. Located just south of the Eiffel Tower, offer astounding views of the tower, especially in the early morning or during sunset.

5. PONT NEUF | THE BOURNE IDENTITY BY DOUG LIMAN

When you cross Pont Neuf it may come to mind that someone might be watching from the rooftop of the Samaritaine department store. At least that was what Matt Damon was doing in the film The Bourne Identity.

Although its name means New Bridge, the Pont Neuf is considered to be the oldest stone bridge in Paris, having being commissioned by Henri IV in 1578. Consisting of two spans, the bridge connects both banks via the Île de la Cité. Crossing this bridge to the island can be a great way to start a visit to all the interesting attractions that it houses.

6. PALAIS GALLIERA | THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA BY DAVID FRANKE

Despite being mostly set in New York, The Devil Wears Prada had a few scenes that took place in the fashion capital. In the movie, The Galliera Museum is used as the setting for the scene in which Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep) parks in a limo in front of the magnificent building to attend a ceremony given in her honor.

In real life, this museum, dedicated to fashion,  and fashion history, hosts very complete exhibitions, including historical pieces as well as drawings and videos and from all periods. Currently, the museum is temporarily closed for a major refurbishing.

7. PLACE DE LA CONCORDE | THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA BY DAVID FRANKE

From the same movie, most of you will recognize the fountain in Place de la Concorde as the spot where Andrea (Anne Hathaway) disposes of her cellphone after decided that the fashion world is not for her.

The Place de la Concorde is a major public square in the very heart of Paris, connecting the Avenue des Champs Elysées to the Tuileries Garden. One of its main features (apart from the obelisk) is the exquisite Tritan and Water Nymph fountain. Avenue Montaigne, where Anne Hathaway strolls down in the movie, is not far from the square and is a place to go if you are a fashion lover.

8. LOUVRE MUSEUM | DA VINCI CODE BY RON HOWARD

The Louvre museum is widely recognizable for most of the initial part of the film based on the best seller of Dan Brown. Of course that a regular visit to the crowded museum, during the day, will miss much of the sinister atmosphere of the film, but the Louvre offers special tours that allow you to visit it in the footsteps of the heroes of the novel and the movie The Da Vinci Code. This visitor trails guide you to explore the places, works, and themes at the heart of the story.

If you appreciate art, the Louvre is a must go and for a complete visit, you may want to reserve a full day. While planning your visit remember to book your ticket online and that on the first Saturday of each month, the admission is free for all visitors.

9. SAINT SULPICE CHURCH | DA VINCI CODE BY RON HOWARD

Another central location for the film in Paris is the Saint Sulpice Church, chosen by the murderer to find a hidden keystone. Dan Brown took some writer's liberty as in the book and in the movie, this church is supposed to be built on the ruins of an ancient temple dedicated to the goddess, when its initial construction dates back to the 12th century, although the current church was only built starting from 1646. Also, the Rose Line was a term created by the author, and the line on the floor is the Saint Sulpice meridian, which leads to the Astronomical Gnomon, an astronomical tool that allows determining precisely the paschal equinox.

10. SHAKESPEARE AND COMPANY | BEFORE SUNSET BY RICHARD LINKLATER

In the film Before Sunset, Jesse (Ethan Hawke’s character) holds a book signing there so you can take a peek of its cozy and vintage interiors. But don't let that check the bookshop out of your list. The Shakespeare and Company Bookstore is a landmark and a must go to in Paris.

The bookstore was opened back in 1919 and has been a meeting point for many renowned authors. One hundred years later, it continues to be a seller of both new and used books and is also a significant piece of the history of the 20th-century Paris. The bookshop is on the left bank of the Seine, very close to Notre Dame. It is usually filled with people, both tourists, and locals, so you may want to go late at night in order to enjoy some peace within the space. Shakespeare and Co is open until 10 pm.

Autumn in Paris | 5 Experiences Not to Miss

Just came back from my first time in Paris in the Autumn, and I loved it! If you want to take the final days of fall to visit the city of lights, just follow my lead and check some of the things you can do and that, in my opinion, you should not miss.

1. WALK AROUND THE AUTUMNAL GARDENS

The Parisian gardens are usually very well keep, and in spring and summer are absolutely bursting with color. But there are some colors and a kind of magic that only fall can bring. Look for it in the countless gardens that you can find in the city and you won't regret it.

2. ENJOY THE COLORS OF AUTUMN LEAFS

With all the tree species scattered through the city, the palette of colors is admirable. From light yellows to deep reds you can find almost every shade. If you're a botanic addict or if you travel with children, collecting leafs can be a fun (and educational) activity to complement your stroll in the garden.

3. VISIT A MUSEUM

If it rains or you find the day too cold for your taste, Paris has dozens of interesting museums. This time I went to Musée Rodin (and recommend it!), but Musée D'Orsay or the Louvre can be great alternatives for a day indoor.

4. HAVE A CHOCOLAT CHAUD

When it gets too cold is time for worm coats, gloves and hot drinks! In Paris nothing is more appealing than a delicious, creamy, sweet Chocolat Chaud. The one at Les Deux Magots is delicious, slightly spiced, with the right consistency. Perfect and probably my favorite!

Perfeito e, provavelmente, o meu favorito!

5. TAKE A LOOK AT THE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

There were already Xmas decorations in some streets, but nothing compares to what you can find at Galeries Lafayette. The central Xmas Tree, under the stained glass dome, and all the decorations you can find all trough the famous department store are nothing short than spectacular.
